Program
Yes, both programs are free to join! It is risk-free and you can unenroll at any time.
You can join Charging Perks by creating a WeaveGrid account and selecting it during program selection. The process is the same for Optimize Your Charge except there is a secondary application needed to complete registration.
Both programs reward you for charging your EV during off-peak hours, but they work differently.
Charging Perks offers the highest rewards and the most convenience for Xcel Energy drivers. This program uses WeaveGrid technology to automatically schedule your charging for times when renewable energy is most prevalent on the grid. Simply plug in your EV anytime, and WeaveGrid handles the rest—there's no need to remember specific charging windows or manage your schedule. Need to charge now? No problem. You can override your automatic smart schedule anytime.
Optimize Your Charge provides an annual incentive for Xcel Energy drivers to follow a more hands-on approach. You select a charging window that fits your lifestyle, but you're responsible for remembering to plug in only during that window.

Automatic Smart Charging
Each time you plug in your car, WeaveGrid will generate a smart schedule that charges your car by your ready-by time.
The schedule takes into account a variety of live signals from Xcel Energy such as energy cost, grid stress, and renewable energy.
While it's best to stick to the schedule as much as possible, you can opt out and charge immediately at any time.
WeaveGrid balances EV charging for you and your neighbors in coordination with other electricity use to reduce strain on the grid, reducing environmental impact of charging and keeping electricity reliable and affordable for everyone.

When signing up, you will be prompted to sign into your electric vehicle (EV) or home charging station account to establish a connection and enable WeaveGrid to receive data on when, how much, and where EV charging occurs.
While this data is shared with Xcel Energy in order to provide program benefits, we do not share your EV or personal data with third parties.
WeaveGrid is committed to securing users’ data. We maintain stringent data security procedures to prevent details about our users and their charging and driving patterns from being misused or disclosed to unauthorized parties.
The WeaveGrid platform uses SSL/TLS encryption to secure communications with various external data sources, such as utilities and vehicles. WeaveGrid also uses AES-256 encryption for securing personal information (PI), personally identifiable information (PII), and data at rest, hosted in our own virtual private cloud (VPC). Additionally, our information security management program is aligned with industry best practices and highly regarded IT governance frameworks such as ISO:27001, SOC2, and NIST CSF. This means we uphold the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of customer data in the utmost regard.
Your vehicle or charger tells WeaveGrid when your EV is charging after you have established a connection to your vehicle or home charging station.
