Automatic Smart Charging uses WeaveGrid to schedule your EV charging and Learn About Your Charging does not. Both programs will text you when there is a demand response event and request that you not charge during specific hours.
In exchange for the extra flexibility that Automatic Smart Charging provides Alabama Power Company to manage EV charging, the rewards for this program are higher.
You cannot enroll in both programs simultaneously.
Yes! It is risk-free and you can un-enroll at any time.
The EV GridWise+ program is available to Tesla, Jeep, Toyota, or Lexus electric vehicle or plug-in hybrids.
If your vehicle is not listed above, you may also enroll in the program with a ChargePoint®, Emporia®, or Wallbox® home charging station.

Automatic Smart Charging
Each time you plug in your car, WeaveGrid will generate a smart schedule that charges your car by your ready-by time.
The schedule takes into account a variety of live signals from Alabama Power Company such as energy cost, grid stress, and renewable energy.
While it's best to stick to the schedule as much as possible, you can opt out and charge immediately at any time.
You'll receive notifications about your upcoming schedule through your preferred method (web and/or SMS texts)
WeaveGrid balances EV charging for you and your neighbors in coordination with other electricity use to reduce strain on the grid, reducing environmental impact of charging and keeping electricity reliable and affordable for everyone.
We don't recommend using Automatic Smart Charging for customers with shared metering for vehicle charging, such as an apartment complex garage.
Ideal use is when you can plug your vehicle in for long stretches of time (such as overnight) so that there is flexibility to schedule charging around periods of high usage.

When signing up, you will be prompted to sign into your electric vehicle (EV) or home charging station account to establish a connection and enable WeaveGrid to receive data on when, how much, and where EV charging occurs.
While this data is shared with Alabama Power Company in order to provide program benefits, we do not share your EV or personal data with third parties.
WeaveGrid is committed to securing users’ data. We maintain stringent data security procedures to prevent details about our users and their charging and driving patterns from being misused or disclosed to unauthorized parties.
The WeaveGrid platform uses SSL/TLS encryption to secure communications with various external data sources, such as utilities and vehicles. WeaveGrid also uses AES-256 encryption for securing personal information (PI), personally identifiable information (PII), and data at rest, hosted in our own virtual private cloud (VPC). Additionally, our information security management program is aligned with industry best practices and highly regarded IT governance frameworks such as ISO:27001, SOC2, and NIST CSF. This means we uphold the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of customer data in the utmost regard.
